The Forehand arms co was one of the better made revolvers of that time. I am told the gun used a black power load, so consult a gunsmith as to modern rounds. This gun has the plastic grips with F&W and emblem on them, two chips as seen on but near serial number, which is 185178. This is a Forehand Arms Company Worcester Mass. Double Action.38 S&W caliber revolver. The pistol has the early F&W black grips. This was a paten date of 1891 and serial number of 12680, manufactured from 1891-1902 (pre-1898). This is a solid frame pistol that shows a 2 1/2' octagon barrel. Overall good condition and does appear to function.
