Motorola Serial Number Decoding Numbers

The following information was obtained from the Motorola MaxTrac Detailed Service Manual, 'No Longer Available' (NLA). Some of the data may not agree with capabilitiesof the programming software. Note that this information pertains ONLY to the VHF,UHF, and 800 MHz MaxTrac models. Information on the 900 MHz radios can be found inthis article, 900 MHz radio models byRepeater-Builder staff.

Additional information on MaxTrac logic and RF boards, plus firmware revisions, can be found in this article, An Introduction to the MaxTrac or Radius M100 / M214 / M216 Firmware, Logic Boards and RF boards by Neil WBØEMU.

GENERAL NOTES:

Locate the Serial Number - moto g7 power. The serial number on a Motorola mobile device is referred to as an IMEI number. To find your IMEI number: Touch. Motorola MC9090 / MC9190 serial number lookup On units with CE 6 & CE 7 operating systems, go to “Start Settings Control Panel System Info” Then select the System tab and the third line down, is a box ESN:, the number should be right there.

  • 800 MHz radios can receive 851-870 MHz and transmit 806-825 MHz. Those with talk-around can also transmit 851-870 MHz.
  • All radios support PL, DPL, and CSQ operation for receive and transmit.
  • The 11th character of the model numbers, the revision, is shown here as anunderscore (_). This is how the model number appears in RSS.

Generic Model Number Scheme:

The 12-character model number for conventional radios follows a reasonably uniform format, shown below in two tables:

First Seven Characters
DPower WattsBand MHzSeries
0: 21: 29.7-50AHA5: trunking
3: 10-253: 136-174MGA9: conventional
4: 30-504: 403-470MJA1: conventional
5: 605: 806-870MJA7: conventional
MJA9: conventional
MQA5: trunking
MQA7: trunking
MWA5: trunking
NOTE:I suspect that the MGA9 series is supposed to be MJA9.

As with most Motorola model numbers, you can NOT tell the band split (29.7-35, 35-42, 42-50, 136-164, 146-174, 403-430, 449-470) by information in the model number. You must open the radio and look up the RF board number.

Second Five Characters
ChansControl HeadRevisionK
3: 204: 2chA: earliest
7: 6A3: 6chB: earlier
D: 16A4: 6ch trunkingC: later
J: 32A5: 16/32chD: latest
A6: 16/32ch trunking
B1: 2ch 1/1/0
B3: 2ch 2/1/0
B4: 2ch 1/1/1 T/A
B5: 2ch 2/2/0
B6: 6ch 6/6/2 T/A
B7: 10ch 10/10/10 T/A
C0: 16ch trunking
C3: 8/16ch 8/8/8 T/A
C5: 8/16ch 8/8/8 T/A
C6: 16ch trunking
C7: 10ch 10/10/10
NOTE:In the Control Head column, the three digits separated by slashes (1/1/0, 8/8/8, etc.) are the number of trunking systems, the number of trunking sub-fleets, and the number of conventional channels that the radio is capable of, in that order. Also, T/A stands for Talk-Around.

Discrete Model Numbers:

General notes for the tables below:

  • Init: what model series the radio is initialized with.
  • Chn: number of conventional channels the stock radio is capable of. Follows the same format as found in the Control Head column in the table above.
  • T/A: Talk-Around - Yes or No.
  • LB: logic board number. All boards have an HLN prefix and an A or B suffix.
  • In the LB column, * indicates HLN5173 or HLN9313 EPROM logic board.
  • Logic board HLN9313 has a 16-pin accessory jack. All others have 5-pin jacks.
  • Logic board HLN9123 has firmware permanently burned into the CPU. All other boards have replaceable firmware contained in a PROM or an EPROM.
