SCCM 2012: Uninstall greyed out in Software Center when using more Deployment Types. Now Adobe shows up in Software Center under Installation Status showing 'Installed' and under 'Installed Software', uninstall option greyed out in both spots. It's not set to mandatory. I uninstalled it manually from my computer, and then installed it via Software Center, and it installed, and uninstalled just fine.

Suddenly you may have noticed that Check for Updates under AdministrationOverviewUpdates and Servicing greyed out in your SCCM environment;

• Unable to remove the Component Server Site System Role. As I am new to SCCM, I have been testing out different parts of it and I came across an issue where I was trying to remove a DP (Distribution Point) from a server. I loaded the console and went to Administration / Overview / Site Configuration / Servers and Site System Roles.

• Software Center shows a notification with a snooze option and the time remaining before it forces the devices to restart. The message may be different depending on your version of Configuration Manager. Software Center final countdown notification. Software Center shows this final countdown notification that the user can't close or snooze.

If we review the event viewer, we will notice Event ID 1, Critical error as below;

The evaluation version of System Center Configuration Manager that is installed on this computer has expired. To purchase a licensed version of Configuration Manager, contact your reseller. Now, Look at the ribbon on the top of the console, it will be clearly marked as the Evaluation is Expired.

From time to time, to accommodate an install or perform troubleshooting, we all need to temporarily shut down the Antivirus we are running.

Disabling System Center Endpoint Protection however is not a nice affair. You can either allow ALL users to turn it off or NO users to turn it off. This means that in any real company in which standard users are locked down, Administrators can not easily shut it down. I confirmed this with Microsoft Partner Support:

I understand that you would like to know if SCEP can be turned off by domain admins and other users couldn’t turn off SCEP. If I misunderstood anything, please let me know.

Based on my testing, I am afraid it was by design feature that we could either allow or disallow all client users to change Real Time Protection settings. As you mentioned, this settings were controlled by the Antimalware policies in SCCM console.

Can Endpoint be disabled by turning off the Service?

…I am afraid there was no such capability in SCEP that the service could be disabled according to the user roles…

…we can temporarily uninstall the SCEP for lab testing as a workaround…

To enable the ability to disable Endpoint Protection on the fly, it for ALL users:

1. Start SYSTEM CENTER CONFIGURATION MANAGER
2. Expand ASSETS AND COMPLIANCE > OVERVIEW > ENDPOINT PROTECTOIN > ANTIMALWARE POLICIES
3. Right click on the policy in question and select PROPERTIES
4. Click REAL-TIME PROTECTION and change ALLOW USERS ON CLIENT COMPUTERS TO CONFIGURE REAL-TIME PROTECTION SETTINGS to YES
5. Click OK and wait for the policy to replicate to your PC’s
